The survey was conducted by the UCSB Social Science Survey Center on behalf of the California Digital Library, with generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon foundation, UC's Office of Scholarly Communication conducted a study on the context, potential volume, and cost elements involved in creating online postprint services for UC authored scholarship. It reveals some interesting facts, e.g. that UC faculty produce about 4% (26,000) of the top peer-reviewed journal articles in any given year, and that under current publisher policies approximately 76% of those articles could be made openly available. It also piloted a survey on UC faculty attitudes toward copyright management. Report avaliable here: CDL Survey Report |
