The UCSB Benton Survey Research Laboratory is available for training undergraduate students to create, publish and analyze the results of online survey questionnaires.

You can contact our Teaching Assistant for scheduling the Benton Survey Research Laboratory for instruction.

Here at BSRL we can:

  • help you develop content modules for your class
  • set up "open hours" for your students to get assistance with methodological questions or with SPSS and Stata software.
  • train your students in using Survey Solutions for the Web, and guide them to setting up their own survey project
  • train your students as interviewers and allow them to practice as telephone interviewers
  • set up ad hoc lectures and session

All these services are sponsored by the College of Letters and Science and are provided at no charge to all instructors.

Our staff is available to train students in the creation and application of CATI and online surveys using Perseus Survey Solutions for the Web. We can also help them understanding data analysis using SPSS and, on request, other statistical packages.

We have designed a number of exercises to introduce students to modern CATI and online survey technologies. After one brief training session, students are able to design and implement elaborate online survey questionnaires.

We are available to work with faculty and students to solve any and all requirements of design and/or analysis.
Networking allows students to work on projects on their own or in groups, and for every student to have access to all data sets.
